Elizabeth Wolstein
Elizabeth Wolstein joined the Firm as a partner in April 2011.
Ms. Wolstein received her B.A. from Yale University in 1987 (magna cum laude), and her J.D. from Harvard Law School in 1993 (cum laude), where was an editor of the Harvard Law Review. From 2000 to 2009, Ms. Wolstein served as an Assistant United States Attorney in the Civil Division of the United States Attorney's Office for the Southern District of New York. In 2007, she was appointed Deputy Chief Appellate Attorney, in which capacity she supervised appellate litigation involving the United States in the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit. In 2005, Ms. Wolstein was awarded the Attorney General's Distinguished Service Award. Following law school, Ms. Wolstein clerked for the Honorable James B. Loken, of the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit. Ms Wolstein has also practiced with Kobre & Kim LLP, Kramer Levin Naftalis & Frankel LLP, and Lankler Siffert & Wohl LLP.
Ms. Wolstein's practice focuses on complex commercial litigation, appeals, securities litigation, domestic and international arbitration, bankruptcy, tax, employment litigation, and immigration. Some of Ms. Wolstein's recent matters include:
- Representation of a group of hedge funds seeking damages for violation of anti-dilution rights arising from a PIPE transaction;
- Representation of a public company harmed by its broker's purchase of unsuitable, structured auction rate securities;
- Defense of a global pharmaceutical company against claims of misappropriation of trade secrets and unfair competition;
- Representation on appeal of a blogger convicted for political speech protected by the First Amendment.
